The evening started off with the Farewell Enkai (party) for the teachers who are leaving (our principal and three other members of staff).  The enkai was (as always) a lot of fun, and a great excuse to practice my Japanese on my colleagues...

 

After the enkai, I met up with Mary, her parents and a few other people who happened to be out and about.

After the banzai at the end of the enkai, teachers who are moving to different schools (or who are retiring) are thrown into the air... (bit of a crap picture, I know)

Our very cool kocho-sensei (principal) is moving on to another school (he's been teaching at Haruko for 37 years!).  He's the one the other teachers are trying to coax into being thrown in the air (kinda in the centre of the picture)
