Mum, Dad, Tom and I went to see the Echizen Daibutsu on New Year's Day.  It's the only day of the year when it's free to get in (we didn't know that before we turned up!).  It was raining, and there were a lot of people there - fulfilling the Japanese ritual of visiting a temple or shrine (or both) in the first few days of the new year.
