Lots of speeches...lots of bowing...a...few...more...speeches....and.......more....bowing......and......more.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........
Yes, it was boring. And very, very cold. Graduation in Japan seems to be about dull speeches and bowing (in case you hadn't guessed). To make matters worse, the proper way to give a speech in Japanese is to sound as boring and emotionless as possible, using bare minimum (if any) intonation. (Actually this is true. The more expressionless the speech, the more professional it sounds. Apparently). This doesn't make it any easier to listen to, especially if you don't understand most of it.
Anyway,
the lovely 3-nensei have now graduated, and with them, the awful green-beige
uniform has been phased out. Goodbye, and farewell to both.
