Ah yes!  Camping.  Japanese style.

Forget the tent.  Leave the ground sheet behind.  You definitely don't need your sleeping bag, or the kerosene stove.

Think:  Beautiful scenery up in the mountains in a remote area beyond Izumi, log cabins (with toilet, shower and kitchen), a purpose built BBQ - lit for you.  The only way we were "roughing it" was the fact we had no mobile phone signal!

HUGE thanks to Kristi for organising it, and to Erin & co. for buying lots and lots (and lots and lots) of food!  ;)

Hans shows just how scary gaijin can be -

we really do have laser eyes!

Considerably fewer bugs.
