Anne's
final day in Fukui, and I had to work in the morning :( I took the
afternoon off, however :) and after a really good feed at Saizeriya, we
headed off into the wilderness in search of fun and adventure. Not put off
by the miserable weather, we headed first to the Bamboo Doll Village, then on to
The Oldest House in Fukui Prefecture (Senko no ie) - an Edo-period, thatched
roof house, still apparently run by the descendants of the samurai family who
once lived here...
By mid-afternoon, it was time to take Anne to the station, where we had just enough time to polish off a couple of waffles, before sending her on her way to Tokyo.
It's been really great to see you Anne, and we're both really glad you made it over before we left! (oh, and PS, thanks for all the wonderful Cadbury's chocolate! ;) )

Looking rather pixie-esq (memories from school of people laughing at my sticking-out ears glowing in the sunlight come flooding back...), I test out a bamboo recorder... |
